.....Since William Shakespeare’s death in the early part of the 16th century, the Western World has scrutinized and studied his myriad plays which effectively probe and examine the full range of human emotion and experience. In his play The Tragedy of Macbeth, Shakespeare explores the sinister rise and fall of a Scottish noble driven by an indefatigable quest for power. As the main character’s world implodes around him, Shakespeare, in the tragic hero’s final soliloquy, utilizes a serious of literary devices—alliteration, repetition, and metaphor—to manifest to the reader the palpable disillusionment felt by the Macbeth as he prepares to confront his imminent death.

From the 1600’s to today, the world has been changed by the writings of Shakespeare. Beginning in the western world, Shakespeare has changed the writings of copious amounts of writers globally. Shakespeare writes of many themes but tragedy is arguable the most famous. Macbeth is a great example Shakespeare’s writing style; he explores the range of human experience.

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.

My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.

He gives his harness bells a shake

The only other sound’s the sweep
